To celebrate the DVD release of King Kong on March 28, 2006, SCIFI.com will host the world premiere of KING KONG'S SKULL ISLAND, a fascinating look at the unforgettable setting of three-time Academy Award-winning picture on March 18. SCI FI Channel will broadcast the featurette, beginning March 21, making the website and the cable network the only places audiences can experience this intriguing behind-the-scenes look at KING KONG before the release of the two-disc special edition DVD.
KING KONG'S SKULL ISLAND reveals the mythology of the mysterious, fog-shrouded isle that serves as the central backdrop of the film. Viewers can travel to the set of the treacherous Skull Island to learn about its shadowy origins, murderous inhabitants and exotic and deadly creatures.
Following the March 18 premiere on SCIFI.com, SCIFI Channel viewers will have several opportunities to see KING KONG'S SKULL ISLAND, March 21-26. After that, the 17-minute documentary featurette will be available only on Universal Studios Home Ent.'s two-disc special edition KING KONG DVD.
Peter Jackson's global blockbuster recently earned three Oscars, including one for Best Visual Effects, awarded to the Weta Digital magicians.
