Scary Thrills & Chills Claim International Box Office

SCARY MOVIE continues to do well internationally with other thrillers and chillers claiming victories around the globe. In France, SCARY debuted in first place with a gross of $5.36 million. Down to #6, THE CELL captured $568,287, increasing its French cume to $1.78 million. CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON jumped in at #7, grossing $560,303 thus elevating its French cume to $6.3 million. THE ROAD TO EL DORADO made its French premiere in eighth with a gross of $473,842. In Mexico, SCRAY MOVIE also claimed the top spot with a gross of $1.4 million, advancing its cume to $3.72 million. In third, WHAT LIES BENEATH floated another $558,566, raising its Mexican cume to $6.79 million. In its Mexican premiere, SPACE COWBOYS placed fourth, with a gross of $507,972. Placing sixth, U-571 commandeered an additional $346,008, bringing its Mexican cume to $1.95 million. THE HOLLOW MAN haunted 9th place, with a gross of $179,879, thereby growing its Mexican cume to $5.32 million. Finishing out the Mexican top ten, FREQUENCY channeled another $131,310, expanding its cume to $739,558. SCARY MOVIE also climbed to the top of the Swedish chart, with a gross of $442,714, blooming its cume to $1.63 million. Holding on to seventh, the animated HELP! I'M A FISH swam in with an additional $148,899, pushing its Swedish cume to $238,820. THE TIGGER MOVIE again claimed eighth, grossing $129,508, thus escalating its Swedish cume to $1.58 million. In a lackluster Swedish debut, NUTTY PROFESSOR II: THE KLUMPS collected only $128,320 in ninth place. In Germany, SCARY MOVIE fell behind the debut of SHAFT, which claimed the #1 spot with a gross of $2.41 million. SCARY settled for second, grossing $2.17 million, escalating its German cume to $13.13 million. In third, HOLLOW MAN materialized $1.75 million, thereby pushing its German cume to $7.61 million. WHAT LIES BENEATH claimed the sixth spot in Germany, adding $791,529 to its cume of $8.58 million. Rounding out the German top ten, DreamWorks' EL DORADO danced in another $407,648, bringing its cume to $1.85 million.
