SCAD Announces New Faculty

The Savannah College of Art and Design revealed the addition of eight new faculty members, including a new chair of the visual effects department, to the School of Film and Digital Media.

* Shawn Bulloch joins the School of Film and Digital Media as a part-time professor of film and television. Bulloch received a master of fine arts degree in film and television from SCAD and a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Savannah State University.

* Ben Dubrovsky, a new professor of interactive design and game development, holds a master of science degree in computer science from Harvard University and a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Tufts University.

* Bridget Gaynor joins the School of Film and Digital Media as a professor of animation and visual effects. Gaynor holds a master of arts degree in visual arts and a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design from William Paterson University in New Jersey. Gaynor has also worked as senior technical director of lighting for Rhythm & Hues Studios in Los Angeles.

* Andrew Meyer, a new professor of film and television, has more than 25 years experience as a producer and executive in the film industry, working on films such as THE BREAKFAST CLUB, FRIED GREEN TOMATOES, MILAGRO BEANFIELD WAR and BETTER OFF DEAD. Meyer holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

* Craig Newman, the new chair of the visual effects department, received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the School of Film and Video at the California Institute of the Arts. He has worked extensively in the film industry, overseeing digital production of films such as JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, THE PERFECT STORM, TITANIC and THE MUMMY.

* Rolf Pilarsky joins the School of Film and Digital Media as a professor of broadcast design and motion graphics. Pilarsky received a master of fine arts degree in media art from the Berlin University of the Arts. Pilarsky has also worked as an independent video producer in Los Angeles, New York and Berlin.

* Christoph Simon joins the School of Film and Digital Media as a professor of animation. Simon holds a master of arts degree in animation from the Royal College of Art in London and has worked in several different areas of the film industry. In addition, his work has been screened in film festivals throughout the world.

* Lauren Weingar, a new professor of sound design, received a master of arts degree in composition and musical technology from New York University and a bachelor of arts degree in composition from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.

The School of Film and Digital Media includes the departments of animation, broadcast design and motion graphics, film and television, interactive design and game development, sound design and visual effects.

The Savannah College of Art and Design, located in Savannah, Georgia, is a private, nonprofit accredited institution. The college offers bachelor of fine arts, master of architecture, master of fine arts and master of arts degrees.
