eDward -- The Young Filmmaker's Award is the international film competition for young talents up to 30 and decided at the eDIT 11 Filmmaker's Festival. Prove your talent and creativity with a 30-second-film and win prizes up to 2,500 Euros. The competition is open to young filmmakers up to 30 years old born on or after January 1, 1978. Students, agency juniors and free film-creative especially are called upon worldwide to take part individually or in teams.
The theme of this year's competition is "Planet Earth."
When James Watt patented his steam engine in 1769 he also laid the foundation stone for the industrial revolution. Since then technology has progressed in leaps and bounds. Whilst people marveled at cars and the railways in 1900, no one would bat an eyelid at a plane or a satellite navigation system today. These wonderful achievements all come at a heavy cost. The earth and its atmosphere are no longer holding up to the attacks on them by humankind. We can expect global warming, floods, drought, extinction of species, homelessness and a major economic crisis if we don't change the way we think and take action to help our planet soon.
The subject offers plenty of scope for imaginative and creative work. Use live action, 2D or 3D animation, a documentary or science fiction scenario, or a mixture of all of them -- everything is possible.
--How do I see the planet today?--What will our planet look like in the future?--What makes our planet worth living on?--What's damaging our planet?--Where in the world is everything still all right?--What can we do to help our planet?--What do politicians need to do now to help it?
The awards will be presented at the 11. Filmmaker's Festival in Frankfurt am Main from September 28-30, 2008. You can find the exact rules of the competition, more detailed information and registration documents at www.ed-ward.de.
