Ringling School Releases Summer Class Schedule

Sarasota, Florida-based Ringling School of Art and Design has released its continuing studies and special programs for summer 2004.

"International Travel: Prehistoric Cave Art and Gastronomy of France" runs from May 31 June 14, 2004. The course offers an exclusive trip to Paris and the villages of Les Eyzies, Cahors and La Roche LAbeille. Students will discover mans earliest creativity with Ice Age Cave Art expert Clayton Eshleman and special guest Robert Creeley. The course is limited to 20 people. "Summer Adult Studios" will run from June 1 July 16, 2004. This is a friendly opportunity to refresh artistic vision, acquire new skills or simply try a new medium. Students of all levels will have one-to-one attention by expert instructors, choosing from watercolor, intensive figure study, drawing, painting and more.

"Summer Teen Studios" will run from June 14 - July 9, 2004. This course offers teens drawing, painting, illustration, art fundamentals, color photography, sculpture, Web design, Photoshop and printmaking. Each one and two week studio-class is a unique session, enroll in multiple weeks of the same subject to build your skill or try a variety.

"PreCollege Perspective" will run from June 20 - July 18, 2004. Students from the U.S. and abroad will explore visual and verbal vocabularies of art and design while learning contemporary techniques in studio settings. They will live on the school campus while studying with Ringling School faculty in an interdisciplinary and collaborative curricula geared for students considering a career in the visual arts or design. The course is open for students age 16 -18. Students can earn college credits.

"Wildacres Retreat Art Workshops" runs from July 18-24, 25-31 and October 25-31, 2004. Students of all levels will attend an intensive week of classes, lectures, critiques and demonstrations. Wildacres Retreat is located in Little Switzerland in the NC Blue Ridge Mountains. Enrollment is open to the public.
