Ridley Scott, Machinima Collab Ends

A planned collaboration between director Ridley Scott and the Machinima online gaming network fizzles due to scheduling issues.

A planned collaboration between Ridley Scott's production company and online entertainment network Machinima to bring science fiction film shorts to the popular YouTube channel has fizzled, according to a report by Videoink.

RSA Films announced this spring that it would produce 12 short films for Machinima, in hopes of reaching its global audience of millions of youthful viewers. Scott, best known for such science fiction films as Blade Runner and Prometheus, was to serve as executive producer.

Although the project attracted interest from sponsors, scheduling problems prevented the parties from finalizing a deal, according to representatives for Scott and Machinima. The project would have required coordinating the schedules of multiple directors drawn from RSA's roster of 80.
