Ridley Scott Directs Effort To Monopolize Boardwalk and Park Place

Ridley Scott is officially attached to direct Hasbro-Universal's MONOPOLY adaptation, and Pamela Pettler will write the script, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Scott has been attached as a producer for some time, and intends to give the game-turned-movie a futuristic bend, similar to his BLADE RUNNER.

Pettler wrote Tim Burton's CORPSE BRIDE, Gil Kenan's MONSTER HOUSE and the upcoming animated feature 9, produced by Burton and WANTED director Timur Bekmambetov.

Scott is producing with Giannina Facio and Hasbro's Brian Goldner, who will all shape the narrative for the real estate buying and selling game, which dates back to 1904 and is the most commercially successful board game in the U.S. Lawrence Grey is overseeing for Universal and Bennett Schneir will oversee for Hasbro.

Universal and Hasbro are collaborating on a number of projects, including OUIJA BOARD produced by Platinum Dunes and BATTLESHIP in development. Paramount is working on Hasbro property G.I. JOE, set to come out next summer from director Stephen Sommers. Hasbro's TRIVIAL PURSUIT: AMERICA PLAYS is currently airing as a syndicated television show.
