Rhythm & Hues Joins AEAF 2003

Rhythm & Hues, the famed 15-year-old vfx house, will take part in The Australian Effects and Animation Festival (AEAF), scheduled for Dec. 7-10, 2003 at the Sydney Convention Center, Darling Harbor.

Some of the forthcoming titles Rhythm & Hues is contributing vfx include AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS and THE CAT IN THE HAT, for which it will produce 270 shots of CG animation and vfx.

International guests scheduled to take part in this year's AEAF include experts behind such notable films as FINDING NEMO, PETER PAN, CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE, LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE and LARA CROFT TOMB RAIDER: THE CRADLE OF LIFE.

They will be joined by Australian experts working in film, television and commercial production, including Complete Post, the Melbourne company that has contributed to China's official entry for the 2004 Oscar for best foreign film, WARRIORS OF HEAVEN & EARTH.

Complete Post produced the opening title sequence for this modern Chinese epic that included matte painting, 2D camera moves, 3D displacement mapping and compositing. Overlaid with action sequences, the opener tells the story of the history of the trade route stretching across China to Istanbul. Complete Post also shared a range of vfx shots with a Beijing effects house.
