Relic Uses 3ds max on Insect Invasion Game

Relic Entertainment has used Discreets 3ds max software on its add-on game extension to its popular IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES, entitled INSECT INVASION. The extension adds 15 new creatures as well as new gameplay features. In the 3D realtime strategy game, players must accumulate an army of mutant monsters created by combining insects and animals, which they use to battle other online opponents. 3ds max was used to create all of the new animals and insects, as well as other objects.

"3ds max is versatile, user-friendly and both the online community and peer-to-peer support is the largest I've seen in the industry," said Erin Olorenshaw, artist/animator, Relic Entertainment. "It's been a tremendous tool for the creation of the animals and other art assets in IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES."

John Johnson, producer, Relic Entertainment, adds, "It's really nice to see Discreet embracing the mod community. We're already seeing some great mods starting up for IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES, and can only guess at what the future will bring."

Discreet (www.discreet.com) is a producer of 3D animation software. 3ds max was used on such award-winning games as Ubi Soft Entertainment's PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME and Bungie Studio's HALO 2.
