Registration Is Open for Winter Term Online Courses

Gnomon Online, the Internet-based division of Gnomon School of Visual Effects, has opened registration for its online courses.

Individuals interested in taking online courses focused on the development of the skills needed to do digital effects, animation and game development may register online at www.gnomononline.com.

Classes will be begin Monday, Jan. 8, 2007. Information and courses can be found on the site. Registration and payment will be done online.

"Registration makes all this real," says Gnomon online producer Eric Miller. "In a way, Gnomon has been working toward online courses since we opened the school. Now, here we are, beginning registration. Through the Internet, we can bring Gnomon's extraordinary instructors and professional curriculum to anyone anywhere in the world."

Courses offered in the Winter Term include Introduction to 3D with Maya taught by Stephen McClure, 3D Texture Painting with Eric Miller, Animation and Visual Effects with Stephen McClure. Pixologic's ZBrush and Figure Drawing will be taught by Dallas Good.

Individuals who sign up for Gnomon Online courses will have access to 15 to 30 hours of pre-recorded video instruction and project assignments designed to hone the skills needed in production, as well as individual feedback on homework from a working production professional. Courses are offered on a quarterly basis. Each week of the term, the appropriate three-hour lecture is made accessible. Lectures are delivered at 960x540 resolution and may be viewed 24/7. Industry professionals critique all uploaded homework.

Students may chat with their instructor or fellow students through an integrated chat system. They may also post a gallery of their work and host individual blogs on the Gnomon Online website.

All Gnomon Online instructors are professionals in the entertainment industries, with a minimum of three years production experience, who teach within their area of expertise. Classes are geared toward teaching the tools and techniques actually used in digital production.
