Registration Open for January08 Term at fxphd

fxphd.com is offering 30 courses in the new January08 term (with classes beginning Jan. 14), including 11 new courses.

fxphd continues its production stream with courses on RED camera workflow and digital photography for vfx. They also have a new focus on motion graphics design this term, with three new mograph-centric courses. But they haven't abandoned their vfx/post roots and have new courses in Maya, Flame 2008 and Shake.

Highlights include:

* After Effects Design - Leading the charge is their new mograph-centric After Effects course taught by designer Tim Clapham of HYPA.tv. His experience doing high-end broadcast design will bring a great real-world perspective to the course.

* Apple Motion - Artist and author Damien Allen will be teaching their first-ever Apple Motion course. Allen's APPLE PRO TRAINING SERIES: MOTION 3 is the official Apple guide to the app, and he will be expanding upon the principles in the book for our online course.

* Advanced Compositing in Shake - Tahl Niran, one of their most popular professors, returns to lead an advanced course on compositing. While Shake is in the title of the course, Niran will be using multiple applications to show compositing techniques you can apply in many different programs.

* RED Camera - In addition to the introductory RED course, they have a new offering that will follow a project through from shooting to post. It'll be a great way to get latest information regarding using RED in the real world.

* Sysadmin 101 - Their first-ever sysadmin course will be centered around what it takes to build a small facility. They will spec out a "typical" post company and then throughout the 10 weeks look at each aspect of it.

* Typography 101 - Frank Jonen will be teaching their hard-core Introduction to Typography course. Jonen stared his career in print and type design at Frankfurt's Gutenberg School of Arts, and went on to collaborate with Hermann Zapf for Linotype to create the first commercial PhotoFont, Zapfino Ink.
