Red Kite Animations Hires John Morris

Scottish independent production company Red Kite Animations will further develop its business with the appointment of industry expert John Morris as director of business development. In this role, Morris will work closely with the senior management team to optimise Red Kite's existing catalogue and new program rights in addition to exploring other commercial opportunities.

Morris, who has held senior TV distribution and consumer products roles at BBC Worldwide, HIT Ent. and Super RTL, brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to the ever-expanding production company. Most recently he headed up Sparrowhawk Distribution, which was sold to NBC Universal last year.

Ken Anderson, managing director and co-founder of Red Kite, said "John brings outstanding experience and expertise into the business, as Red Kite continues to grow. Despite the extraordinary economic conditions, I believe that by strengthening and broadening our team we are in a strong position for future growth."

Red Kite is currently producing the latest season of DENNIS & GNASHER for CBBC. In addition, work continues on a mobile game based on THE IMP, a 65x1 series of animated shorts about an imp who tries, unsuccessfully, to spread evil within the mundane demands of domestic life, is in development with Tag Games. Other recent work includes NORMAN SPITTAL and MARVO THE WONDER CHICKEN.

In November last year, Red Kite announced the addition of Catherine Williams to its senior development team. Williams joined the company from roles at Granada Kids, Darrall Macqueen and Pearson Television. At Red Kite, Williams is charged with developing and producing a diverse range of programs for the international marketplace.
