Realscan 3D Takes 3D Scanning Sky High

Realscan 3D, the next generation in mobile, high resolution, high color, structured light 3D scanning, announced the delivery of eleven scanned animation-ready models for the Disney feature SKY HIGH (opening July 29), which include models for Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston.

"Our digital doubles don't lurk in the shadows like doubles seen in other films," said Frank De Marco, president of Realscan 3D. "Our models are ready for any shot ranging from close-up to long-shot. With Realscan 3D models, directors don't have to compromise..."

All the actors and props for the Sky High project were captured on-set and between takes using Realscan 3D's proprietary portable capture system. Utilizing the high-resolution texture maps and geometry captured by Realscan 3D, the production had highly detailed models with film quality textures. All 11 models were built and delivered to the production in less than a week each.

"We have been working on our proprietary pipeline for over six years and the work we are doing is now surpassing anything previously seen from any 3D scanning company," added Joel Thornton, cto of Realscan 3D. "Realscan 3D is increasingly being recognized alongside much larger companies as the premiere 3D scanning boutique for film, television and videogame productions."

Founded in 2004, Realscan 3D (www.Realscan3D.com) is a rapidly growing Los Angeles-based company specializing in creating film quality digital doubles using structured light 3D scanning.
