Dakota Goyo, who is set to make his big debut in DreamWorks' REAL STEEL, has signed onto DreamWorks Animation's RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, Variety reports. He joins REAL STEEL co-star Hugh Jackman, Chris Pine, Jude Law, Alec Baldwin and Isla Fisher.

William Joyce, whose book the film is based on, will co-direct with Peter Ramsey. David Lindsay-Abaire penned the script. Christina Steinberg and Nancy Bernstein are producing alongside exec producers Guillermo del Toro and Michael Siegel.

The story brings together the childhood legends, like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, to stop the boogeyman-like Pitch from taking over the world and destroying children's hopes, beliefs and imagination.

DreamWorks hopes to have the film in theaters next year.
