Ray Feeney Receives VES 2008 Founders Award

President and founder of RFX Inc., Ray Feeney has been selected by the VES Board of Directors as the recipient of the 2008 VES Founders Award. The award will be presented at the VES Annual Membership Meeting in September.

Feeney is a founding member and former Board Member and Vice Chairman of the Visual Effects Society. In addition, he has received multiple Academy Awards as well as the John A. Bonner Medal of Commendation and most recently, the Academy honored Ray Feeney with the 2007 Gordon E. Sawyer Oscar.

While Feeney has been a pioneer in his efforts to improve visual effects in the motion picture industry, he was chosen as this year's Visual Effects Society Founders Award recipient for service "above and beyond the call of duty" to the craft of visual effects and to the membership of VES. Ray Feeney is the embodiment of this award, as he has held numerous positions on many VES committees and has given of himself so freely -- both his time and unique expertise -- over the past decade.

"Ray Feeney has been an important cornerstone in the foundation that has become VES," said current VES Chairman, Jeff Barnes. "Through his tireless efforts, Ray has helped VES achieve important recognition throughout the entertainment industry and his unique talent and insights are qualities we'll be calling on for a long time to come."

"I am proud to have been a founding member of VES and to see how it's grown since our first meetings over a decade ago," Feeney said. "With technologies changing the creative landscape so quickly, I think VES has a unique role to play not only in the visual effects world, but in the larger entertainment industry, so I'm honored to accept this award."

Previous winners of the VES Founders Award were Jonathan Erland and Harrison Ellenshaw.
