Press Release from Rainmaker Entertainment
VANCOUVER, CANADA December 7, 2011 – Rainmaker Entertainment’s animated short film LUNA is a big winner at the California International Shorts Festival (CISF). Picking up its first major festival circuit win, LUNA won Best Animated Short honors and will be screened at the CISF this month. The LUNA trailer is available for screening at the Rainmaker Entertainment website, www.rainmaker.com. A five minute film noir animated short, LUNA depicts the flirtatious dance between a charming and debonair caterpillar (Silky) and the stunning and graceful moth (Luna). Is their story one of unrequited love at first sight or will their true feelings overcome the powerful attraction of another suitor?
Inspired by an original concept by in-house producer Luke Carroll, Luna was produced and written by Rainmaker Entertainment president and executive producer Catherine Winder and was directed by Donna Brockopp, whose animation credits include Disney’s The Jungle Book 2 and Peter Pan’s The Return to Never Land. Kimberly Dennison was the Supervising Producer with Kylie Ellis acting as Line Producer. Francesca Natale was the Production Designer and music was composed by John McCarthy. Sound Design and Re-recording Mixing was supervised by Craig Berkey.
Previous to its big win at the California International Shorts Festival, LUNA debuted in August 2011 when it was selected to screen at the iconic Electronic Theater at the SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival. Additionally, LUNA has been recognized as an Official Selection at the New York City International Film Festival, the Chicago Children’s Festival, the Kansas International Film Festival, FLICKERS Rhode Island Film Festival and the Silicon Valley Film Festival as well as an Honorable Mention at the Metropolitan Film Festival of NYC.
LUNA will screen at the CISF on Saturday, December 17 at the Promenade Playhouse Theater in Santa Monica, California.
