Radar Studios has entered into a collaborative partnership with Eden FX.
Chicago, IL -- Chicago-based production and post house Radar Studios (www.radarstudios.com) has entered into a collaborative partnership with LA-based visual effects company Eden FX (www.edenfx.com). The partnership will enable Radar and Eden FX to unite on a broad range of work.
“We have similar philosophies -- we’re both artist-driven companies that work hard to collaborate closely with our clients,” says Radar Studios' Executive Producer Graham Gangi. “We have a great reputation for providing solutions in to the advertising market, and Eden FX has a similar reputation in the episodic and feature market. As we've continued to handle larger-scale projects and tighter deadlines, it made sense for us to form an alliance with Eden FX as a way to share ideas and resources,” says Gangi.
Eden FX, a Point.360 company, was founded by visual effects artist John Gross as an artist-driven environment dedicated to high-end visual effects, 3D animation, compositing, digital environments, character animation, on-set supervision, and conceptual design for episodic television and motion pictures. Gross first came to Hollywood in 1992 when he helped to co-found Amblin Imaging where he created effects for Steven Spielberg's TV Series “SeaQuest DSV” and supervised digital effects for the TV series “Star Trek: Voyager.” In 1996, Gross co-founded Santa Monica based Digital Muse, whose clients included Paramount, Universal, Warner Brothers, Saatchi & Saatchi and the History Channel.
It was his experience as an artist that led him to create Eden FX as an artist-centered, artist-driven studio in 2000. “The success of the studio comes from the artists,” says Gross. By creating and fostering an open, collaborative environment, those artists have led to acclaimed work on programs like Paramount’s “Star Trek Enterprise”, CBS' “NCIS”, NBC's “Community”, MTV's “Teen Wolf” and Warner Bros’ “Person of Interest”, as well as such feature films as “Hellboy,” “Superman Returns,” “Get Smart” and “The Social Network.”
Radar came to Gross's attention through Eden FX Visual Effects Supervisor and Senior Digital Artist Fred Pienkos. Pienkos, a Chicago native, had an extensive career in Chicago and had worked with Radar on a number of projects prior to relocating to LA. Gross says that while a personal connection may have introduced the two companies, it is Radar's work and approach that made the connection click.
“Their work is excellent, and after talking with everyone at Radar, I found we had a very simpatico relationship,” says Gross. “We understood each other because we've had similar experiences throughout the business.”
Gangi and Gross both express how their shared ethos and complimentary offerings will allow Radar and Eden FX to deliver excellent results to their clients, while also allowing each company to expand creatively. “Together, we'll be able to cover the range of work that is out there in a way that each company couldn't do separately,” says Gangi. “Each company will be able to offer a broader range of capacity and service to its existing clients, and the partnership will offer each company a chance to branch out into new areas of work. It's an exciting opportunity for all of us.”
