Press Release from Plymptoons

Bill Plympton's animated feature "Idiots and Angels" on DVD is now available for pre-orders at

The DVD will ship in mid-summer, but all orders received before July 4 will get an extra gift - a free 35mm clipping from the film.  Keep it as a reminder of the days when films were projected from film!

The film is an animated dark comedy about a man's battle for his soul. Angel, a morally bankrupt man mysteriously wakes up with a pair of wings on his back, which force him to do good deeds, contrary to his nature.  He desperately tries to rid himself of the wings, but also finds himself fighting those who view his wings as their ticket to fame and fortune.

The film was an official selection at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, won a Special Distinction Award at the Annecy Animation Festival, the Grand Prix at the AniFest Trebon, and was named Best Film at the Fantasporto Festival in Portugal.

Stephen Holden of the New York Times called the film "relentless and brilliant", and New York Magazine called it an "ambitious, hilariously demented moral fantasy".  Variety called it "Bill Plympton's slyly sardonic black comedy, his best animated feature to date".
