Plympton Gets Spotlight On Sundance Channel

Sundance Channel will spotlight the work of maverick animator Bill Plympton starting May 2, 2004 with broadcasts of two his feature films and a shorts collection.

The short film program, MONDO PLYMPTON, leads off at 8:00 pm, featuring the films, YOUR FACE ANIMATOR, ONE OF THOSE DAYS, HOW TO KISS, 25 WAYS TO QUIT SMOKING, PLYMPTOONS, DRAW, NOSEHAIR, PARKING, which appeared at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, and EAT WELCOME, winner of the Canal+ Award at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. (2001).

Airing at 10:30 pm is THE TUNE, Plymptons first feature, a musical about a nebbishy songwriter who must pen a hit in less than 47 minutes.

Finally, Sundance presents the U.S. TV premiere of animated feature MUTANT ALIENS, a surreal and twisted sci-fi adventure featuring an orbiting billboard the size of Oregon, giant walking noses and a musical interlude starring a hot-rod-riding Jesus.

The features and shorts will also air on an individually throughout the month.

Launched in 1996, Sundance Channel (www.sundancechannel.com) is a venture between Robert Redford, Showtime Networks Inc., and Universal Studios. Sundance Channel operates independently of the non-profit Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival, but shares the overall Sundance mission of supporting independent artists and providing them with wider opportunities to present their work to audiences.
