Paramount Parks and Stan Lee Media, Inc., in association with Blur Studio, have teamed up to create "Stan Lee's 7th Portal 3D Simulation Experience." This deal marks the first time an Internet property has been turned into a location-based entertainment experience. The project is scheduled to debut at all U.S.-based Paramount Parks in spring 2001. Under the pact, Paramount will sell branded merchandise and provide links between its own Web sites and those of Stan Lee Media. The attraction will also be distributed to a worldwide network of simulation theaters by Iwerks Entertainment. "This agreement truly acknowledges the boundless talent and brand value of Stan Lee," said Jon Corfino, newly appointed president of theme park and location-based attractions for Stan Lee Media. The Spider-Man ride at Universal's Islands of Adventure, which is based off of the Stan Lee created superhero, is one of the most popular attractions of its kind. "This will be an exciting new film for our FX Theaters," says Dean Sharits, vice president of Design + Entertainment for Paramount Parks. "The characters will be dimensional and rendered using state-of-the-art motion capture. The entire production will be shot and projected in 3D, and the high-impact storyline will catapult guests into new dimensions of time and space." Based in Venice, California, Blur Studio provides 3D animation, visual effects and motion graphics design services for film, television, commercial, interactive game, large-format film and location-based entertainment projects. Recent credits include Paramount Pictures' SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER AND UNCUT; the ride film STAR TREK: WORLD TOUR; and the Activision game STAR TREK: ARMADA.
