Tronic Studio in First Museum Show

The Knoxville Museum of Art will present Design Lab: Tronic Studio, featuring the New York City multimedia design firm Tronic Studio whose clients have included MTV, Nike, Wired, Fuse Network, Fine Living and Diesel Denim to name a few. Tronic Studio blends architecture with art, video production and interface design. The exhibition, on display at the Knoxville Museum of Art Jan. 14 to March 27, 2005, is the firm's first solo museum exhibition.

"Tronic Studio is blazing new paths in all aspects of design and how we experience information. Their work excites in us new visions of how our visual world will look and feel. We're thrilled to present their work to this region." says Dana Self, Barbara W. and Bernard E. Bernstein curator of collection and exhibitions of the Knoxville Museum of Art.

Tronic Studio was founded in 2001 by Jesse Seppi and Vivian Rosenthal after graduation from Columbia University. In 2004, they branded and created the environment for NextFest, WIRED magazine's interactive technology conference and will continue in 2005. Other projects include 3D animated commercials on screens in Times Square, illustrations for WIRED magazine, an animated helicopter for the Broadway production of Miss Saigon, 3D visualizations for Nikelab.com, an interactive/interface kiosk titled The Retail Experiment at New York's Diesel Denim Gallery, and the Sharp Aquos Project, and work with a variety of clients including Fine Living, the Outdoor Life Network, Infiniti, General Electric, Nickelodeon, MTV, Nike, the New Jersey Devils and NEWSWEEK.

The Knoxville Museum of Art's Design Lab series reflects a growing public interest in design and offers installations investigating what design is and how it affects life. Exhibitions have explored urban, sound, ceramic, industrial design and architecture. Design Lab: Tronic Studio is made possible with the assistance of the Lucille S. Thompson Family Foundation through its ongoing support of the new initiatives at the museum. Additional support has been provided by Metro Pulse.
