Pirates Pillages at People's Choice Awards

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST and its stars Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley cleaned up at the 33rd annual People's Choice Awards, which was held on Jan. 9, 2007.

Depp, appearing by satellite from London, said, "I know that I've said this before. But the fact that this award comes from the people makes it all the more special," he said. "And thanks for keeping me employed, yeah? You're the boss."

Depp won favorite male star as well as favorite male action star and favorite on-screen matchup alongside PIRATES co-star Knightley. DEAD MAN'S CHEST took home honors for both favorite movie and favorite movie drama. Adam Sandler's CLICK won favorite movie comedy with CARS racing in to snatch the favorite family movie award.

On the TV side, THE SIMPSONS won favorite animated comedy while HEROES garnered the award for favorite new drama.

The CBS-TV show from the Shrine Auditorium was hosted by Queen Latifah. Winners were picked by public Internet balloting. For more information, visit www.pcavote.com/.
