Piranha 3-D Delayed Till Late Summer

The Weinstein Co. is pushing the release of its horror remake PIRANHA 3-D from April to at least August, reports THE LOS ANGELES TIMES.

The Weinstein Co. is pushing the release of its horror remake PIRANHA 3-D from April to at least August, reports THE LOS ANGELES TIMES. The move is for fear that KICK-ASS would siphon off many of the same demographic that would go see the killer fish flick.

Pushing releases has become a pattern for The Weinstein Co. of late. Box office disappointments THE ROAD, NINE and YOUTH IN REVOLT were all pushed at least once. The animated feature HOODWINKED TOO! HOOD VS. EVIL was removed from January last minute making for an awkward scenario where there are toys in Burger King kids meals promoting a film with no release date. The company also has the period piece SHANGHAI, thriller ALL GOOD THINGS and sports flick HURRICANE SEASON sitting on their shelves waiting to hit theaters.
