Pinky and Perky Get Daily Spot on BBC1

After proving a hit on CBBC, porcine pair Pinky and Perky have landed a daily slot on BBC1. THE PINKY AND PERKY SHOW has been running on CBBC since November 3 of last year and has recently been pulling in the highest ratings on the channel. The entire first season will start airing on February 27 daily at 3.40 p.m.

THE PINKY AND PERKY SHOW has huge appeal for a whole new generation of fans, as well as attracting the interest of parents who remember the pigs from an earlier incarnation. The new show is already attracting broadcasting interest from around the world, with international TV sales being handled by Granada International -- it is due to go out on France 3 and ABC in Australia this year, with sales also confirmed in the Nordics.

The show is also in the running for some top international awards at the International Television and Multimedia Animation Festival, being held in Portofino, Italy in April. The pigs are up for consideration in several categories: The Best TV Series for Tween Generation, Best Animated Character of the Year, Best Series for All Ages of the Year, Best European Production of the Year and Best Soundtrack of the Year.

It's not just TV where the pigs are causing a stir: PPC Enterprises, which holds merchandising and licensing rights in the brand, has already signed up Martin Yaffe to produce a wide range of PINKY AND PERKY toys that are set to hit the market in autumn/winter 2009 -- these include a Pinky and Perky megaphone, PINKY AND PERKY walkie-talkie headsets, a sing-a-long microphone, joke set, inflatable chairs, and a remote controlled car.

As well as toys, a Nintendo DS game is set to hit the shops at Easter-time and Pinky and Perky are even set to ham it up in their own stage show, to will be produced by top children's theatre company Fiery Light, who are behind the successful "Lazy Town Live!".
