Pileated Pictures Creates Flash Games Based on Between the Lions Character

Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts-based Pileated Pictures announced the release of GUS AND INKYS UNDERWATER ADVENTURES, a set of Flash games based on a character in PBS hit show, BETWEEN THE LIONS. The series of online educational tools was developed for the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) Get Ready to Read! program, promoting literacy and assessing skills among preschool children.

Working on this project has been extremely rewarding, said co-creator of BETWEEN THE LIONS Christopher Cerf. The creative team at Pileated Pictures brought a lot to the table, including captivating visuals and quality writing. This is one of the best online, interactive learning tools Ive ever seen.

Pileated Pictures used Macromedia Flash to create an animated version of Gus the Bunny, BETWEEN THE LIONS puppet character. Pileated Pictures writers Michael Levine and Jeffrey Yerkes co-wrote the script with Emmy-Award winning writers Cerf and Norman Stiles, co-creators and exec producers of BETWEEN THE LIONS, along with the creative team from NCLD. The free online games feature Gus the Bunny getting help by Inky the Octopus with his reading through a series of rhyming activities. The games can be found at www.getreadytoread.org. The following two chapters will go live in spring 2004.
