Pickard Picks Granada Kids Exec For ITV

Steven Andrew has been chosen to replace exiting controller of children's and youth programming Janie Grace at ITV. He will report to ITV director of programs, Nigel Pickard. Andrew spent five years at Granada Kids, one of the largest producers of kids programming in the U.K., and was responsible for many programs broadcast on CiTV (the children's segment of ITV). This is Pickard's first appointment since he rejoined the British broadcaster after a recent stint at the BBC. Andrew is also a BBC vet where he spent 13 years working on a wide range of children's programs from BLUE PETER to GRANGE HILL. "Steven is joining the team at ITV to take our children's schedule forward," Pickard said. "It is a vital area of ITV's output and one to which I am clearly committed, given my own background," Pickard has been one of the most prolific commissioners of children's programming in the U.K. Andrew said the number of children's channels have multiplied in the U.K. "but CiTV remains the number two children's channel in the U.K.," he said. "It's time to get back on top."
