The nominations for Film Not in the English Language Award, to be presented at the Orange British Academy Film Awards in 2009, have been announced.
Animated PERSEPOLIS (an Oscar nominee last year for Best Animated Feature) and WALTZ WITH BASHIR were nominated, along with German thriller THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX, Italian Mafia drama GOMORRAH and French family drama I'VE LOVED YOU SO LONG.
For the second year running, The Film Not in the English Language Chapter nominees have been announced ahead of the nominations in other categories. This early announcement of the nominations allows our members a longer period to view the five films and gives a greater profile to this year's foreign language films.Chapter voting was introduced for this Award 2007/08. A Chapter is comprised of Academy voting members with expertise in a specific area of the film industry.
The 2009 BAFTA Film Awards will be held on February 8 at London's Royal Opera House.
