Perception Designs Kiosk Display For National Constitution Center

Design/post-production house Perception has delivered kiosk display sequences for the National Constitution Center (www.constitutioncenter.org), which opened its doors in Philadelphia July 4, 2003. For the seven 10-second animation sequences, Perception teamed with director Hock Films Jonathan Hock, who recently collaborated with Perception on the show opens to ESPN's STREETBALL and BLOCK PARTY. The permanent exhibit, entitled "Point Counterpoint," presents short films featuring actors arguing both sides of some of the influential teachings of American history and culture. In each case, the core question of the debate is presented against a deep blue background underneath the animated words "Point Counterpoint." Each 10-second animation loops in the background as the acted debate continues.

"Working with Jon is always a great creative experience," said Daniel Gonzalez, Perception's visual effects director. "His directing style is one that lends itself well to what we do. When he came to us with the Constitution Center, we were more than happy to be involved in such a prestigious project."

"The Center and Jonathan wanted a relatively simple and readable design, but something that looked elegant and smart," said Jeremy Lasky, design director at Perception. Gonzalez and Lasky used a combination of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator to create the sequences.

Established by the Constitution Heritage Act of 1988, which was passed by Congress and signed by then President Ronald Reagan, the National Constitution Center is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public understanding of, and appreciation for, the Constitution, its history and its contemporary relevance. The Center expects to receive about a million visitors each year.

Founded in 2002 by former R/GA creatives Lasky, Gonzalez and Brendan Werner (editorial director), Perception (www.perceptv.com) specializes in high-end motion graphics and visual effects for advertising, broadcast network on-air design, show opens, film title sequences, trailers, music video, corporate video and Web design.
