George Port has joined Whamo as their new head of business development, the company recently reported. With the recent rapid expansion of Whamo, which includes the opening of an office in Spain as well as the establishment of partnerships with Canada's Cambium Entertainment and Australia's Burbank Animation Studios, company president Joseph Szew opted to bring in Port. According to Szew, "We need someone who will be able to help us manage the company's aggressive strategy and growth. Port, with his experience in the business, will be able to help us in strategically acquiring properties and distributing these to various markets worldwide." With almost 40 years in the entertainment business, Port most recently was president of Anchor Bay Entertainment from 1985 to 1998, as well as managing director of Anchor Bay International from 1998 until last year.
