Producer Neal Moritz is working on a reboot of STARSHIP TROOPERS for Sony Pictures, reports Vulture. Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz (X-MEN: FRIST CLASS) have been hired to write the script.

Based on Robert A. Heinlein's classic sci-fi novel, the futuristic story follows human recruits sent to distant planets to battle giant alien bugs. Paul Verhoeven adapted the novel into a tongue-in-cheek actioner in 1997.
