Gary Ross, who is busy at work on the script for SPIDER-MAN 4, has been tapped to write the SPIDER-MAN spinoff VENOM, reports the Heat Vision blog. In the comic, Venom is an alien symbiote that bonds with humans. First it took over Peter Parker and later his newsroom rival Eddie Brock. Over the comics' history, four others would become the alien's host. In SPIDER-MAN 3, Brock was played by Topher Grace. No word has been made on whether Grace or the Brock character will return. In the past Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and Jacob Estes worked on versions of the story. Avi Arad and Marvel are producing.
