Disney has hired Animal Logic commercials director/vfx artist Michael Gracey to direct its Snow White project THE ORDER OF THE SEVEN, which was formerly titled SNOW AND THE SEVEN, reports Heat Vision. Francis Lawrence (WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, I AM LEGEND) was previously attached to direct.

The title change both implies the story is moving further away from the Snow White fairy tale and allows Disney to distance the project from the other Snow White films that will beat it to the screen. This take has the Snow White character falling under the care of seven international shaolin warriors.

Michael Arndt (TOY STORY 3) penned the most recent version of the script. Previous scribes include Michael Chabon and Jayson Rothwell. Andrew Gunn is the producer.

The studio hopes to start filming next year.

THis is going to SUCK BALLS. THey're hiring music video and VFX directors? WHy? Because no decent respectable director will take the job because they know a live action Snow White film is just fucking STupid?
