Smarterville Appoints Peter Doctorow As CEO

Smarterville, Inc., a Web-based children’s media company, announced that Peter Doctorow, former president of Knowledge Adventure, has been named as president and chief executive officer. Founder Ben Sharpe will remain as chief technology officer. "We are excited to add Peter Doctorow to our team," said Ben Sharpe, Smarterville founder and chief technology officer. "With over thirty years of experience in all aspects of technology products development, marketing and management, Peter has the background and skills to help us successfully achieve our goals." At Knowledge Adventure, Doctorow helped establish the company as one of the worldwide market leaders in children’s software. Doctorow also served as president of Philips Media, vice president of research and development at Davidson and Associates and vice president of marketing, international business and strategic planning at game-maker Accolade. While at Activision as president for the development studio, he was responsible for the creation of the first interactive movie, RETURN TO ZORK, based on the popular and critically acclaimed Infocom choose-your-own-adventure franchise. The Seattle-based children’s media company has a mission to provide children with safe, personalized and entertaining Web-based learning experiences while providing parents with progress reports, wireless alerts and other community building features.
