The prequel to THE THING, a remake of John Carpenter's classic, is expected to begin filming in March in Toronto, COMINGSOON.NET reports.

The project is being directed by Matthijs van Heijningen, Jr. based on a screenplay by Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer. The prequel is slated to be an earlier story about the mutation that attacks the Norwegian base in Carpetner's original film. The cast is expected to be made public in the coming weeks.
