Rob Cohen (XXX) is set to helm the Korean War actioner, 1950, writes The Hollywood Reporter. CJ E&M Pictures and Grapevine Ent. are the studios. For CJ, the $100 million production will be the most expensive film in Korean film history.

Based on Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Herald Tribune correspondent Marguerite Higgins' dispatches, the story follows the writer who tackles sexism in addition to danger in covering the war. Rachel Long and Brian Pittman are writing the script.

Brett Donowho is the producer alongside exec producer Paul Hudson.

The studios plan to start filming in May 2012 for a spring 2013 release.
