Deadline.com reports that Rupert Wyatt (upcoming THE ESCAPIST) is in talks to direct Fox's CAESAR: RISE OF THE APES, a prequel to PLANET OF THE APES. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have penned the screenplay.

Chud.com has added details about the plot. A scientist researches a cure for Alzheimer's using chimps as test subjects. When his project is shut down, the scientist adopts his most promising chimp named Caesar, who begins to mutate into a talking humanoid ape.
