Mark Pellington has been hired by New Line to direct ORPHANAGE, the remake of the Spanish-language ghost tale EL ORFANATO, VARIETY reports.

Guillermo del Toro, Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson are slated to produce the film, which is being written by Larry Fessenden and Del Toro who was creative supervisor on the 2007 original.

The project has been in development at New Line since 2007.
