Since bringing ALICE IN WONDERLAND to the screen, producer Joe Roth has become the go-to guy for fairy tale stories. Now Deadline.com reports that he is in negotiations to produce Disney's MALEFICENT. The new take on the Sleeping Beauty tale will be from the point of view of the evil witch, played by Angelina Jolie.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND scribe Linda Woolverton penned the script. The studio is still looking for a director after Tim Burton passed.

Roth is also producing Sam Raimi's OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL and Rupert Sanders' SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN.
