R.O. Blechman is the recipient of numerous gold medals as well as several Emmys, he is an member of the Art Directors Hall of Fame (1999), and in 2003 MOMA held a retrospective of his animated films. In May 2011, The National Cartoonists Society honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
