Jay Baruchel, known to the animation world as the voice of Hiccup in HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, has landed two writing gigs, according to The Hollywood Reporter. First he will adapt Kickstart Comics' RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCE. He's also in discussions to rework EXORCISM DIARIES for Summit Ent. Baruchel will partner with Jesse Chabot on both scripts.

VIOLENCE follows two comic creators whose Slasherman villain comes to life and begins killing. Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray created the comic.

EXORCISM DIARIES is based on Mark Opsasnick's book, THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE EXORCIST. The story follows a female journalist who looks into the real story behind THE EXORCIST only to discover the demon is still on the loose. Adam Simon and Tim Metcalfe originally pitched the project to Summit. Roy Lee, Sonny Mallhi and Doug Davison are the producers on the project with Erik Feig, Michael Schaefer and Sophie Cassidy overseeing.

Baruchel recently penned the sports comedy GOON with Evan Goldberg.
