Feldman New Head Of NATPE
Rick Feldman has taken over as new president/ceo of the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE), responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the organizations worldwide activities. Feldman is based in the associations global headquarters in Los Angeles and reports to the NATPE Board of Directors Executive Committee. He replaces Bruce Johansen, who served in the position for 10 years.
Previously Feldman was evp/coo of USA Broadcasting in Los Angeles were he oversaw a group of four stations throughout the United States, including WAMI-TV/Miami. During his tenure there he launched independent stations in such major markets as Dallas, Atlanta and Boston on behalf of USA. He also supervised the companys "Stationworks," its centralized, digital distribution facility in Los Angeles designed to function as master control for the entire station group, as well as the promotion production facility for USAs stations.
Feldman served 16 years at KCOP-TV/Los Angeles, advancing from general sales manager to president/GM in 1993 of the market leader. Before KCOP, he was vp/sales manager with Metromedia in New York and was a promotion manager for WJZ-TV/Baltimore. He began his career as a media buyer at Ted Bates Advertising in New York.
Next year, NATPE (www.natpe.org) will hold its 41st annual Conference and Exhibition between January 13-16, 2004, at the adjoined Venetian Hotel and Sands Expo Center complex in Las Vegas.
