William Monahan (THE DEPARTED) has been hired to adapted Joseph Kosinski's graphic novel OBLIVION, reported Deadline.com. Kosinski, the director of TRON LEGACY, will direct the film.

The story follows a court-martialed soldier who is assigned a post on a distant planet where robots search for the few remaining aliens of a wiped out race. When a ship crashes on the planet, the surviving woman knows the soldier, which to him seems impossible.
