Jo Sweby joined the Contender Entertainment Group (CEG) in the newly created post of international acquisitions manager, responsible for growing CEG’s catalog of intellectual properties across the television, video and merchandising divisions by acquiring and expanding both third-party and wholly owned general entertainment and children’s titles internationally.

She will also be responsible for acquiring film titles suitable for theatrical release under the company’s highly successful Hong Kong Legends and Premiere Asia brands.

Sweby was director of acquisitions, Europe Middle East and Africa for Turner Entertainment where she was responsible for acquiring content for Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Toonami channels in the U.K., France, Spain, Italy, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

“Jo Sweby has outstanding experience in acquiring quality programs across a range of genres that match our own output very closely,” said Richard Bridgwood, md, CEG. “With her successful track record and strong relationships, Jo will be a great asset to the company and is the ideal candidate to represent CEG in the international market as we continue to expand our business.”

CEG (www.contenergroup.com) was founded by Bridgwood in 1995 and is one of the U.K.'s fastest growing media businesses. CEG operates in four divisions: Videos, Books, TV and Consumer Products. The company distributes material in four principal genres, comprising cult and classic TV, children's programming, nostalgia programming and celebrity-based general entertainment.
