VARIETY reports that ABC is set to greenlight a pilot for a new version of CHARLIE'S ANGELS. TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES producer Josh Friedman would write and exec produce the modern rendition. Original series producer Leonard Goldberg, CHARLIE'S ANGELS features star and producer Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen are also on board. Sony Pictures TV will produce.

This isn't the first (or second) time a revival of the series has been in the works. Goldberg and original series producer Aaron Spelling tried to recreate it for Fox as ANGELS 88 in 1988. Then following the success of the McG-directed films, LOST's Carlton Cuse and John Wirth wrote a new version for ABC and Sony. Both never made it to a pilot.
