Amy Gruberg joins Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM) as svp, media operations, responsible for shaping the media vision for MGM. She will influence all aspects of the studio’s media operations, including overseeing the media strategy and placement for each of the studio’s films, working on MGM Home Ent. releases, and building brand extensions for MGM’s television partners as films enter their network and cable windows.

Additionally, Gruberg, based at the studio’s headquarters in Los Angeles, will manage the company’s roster of national and regional advertising agencies.

“Amy is a dedicated professional, fierce competitor and a respected innovative thinker,” said MGM president of marketing Perry Stahman. “She brings an all-encompassing approach to marketing. She doesn’t evaluate media opportunities in a vacuum, but rather incorporates a deep understanding of creative, research, publicity and promotions in devising strategies. We are thrilled to have someone with her proven track record who is also able to adapt to the changing landscape of media we find ourselves facing.”

Gruberg spent a 10-year stint at DreamWorks where she guided the development of its media operations where she formed deep relationships with the advertising sales industry, placing an emphasis on creating media plans built as much on added-value marketing programs as they were on media schedules. Gruberg devised the media plans for films, including SHREK, GLADIATOR, AMERICAN BEAUTY, COLLATERAL and OLD SCHOOL.

Before DreamWorks, Gruberg held senior media positions at the Walt Disney Co. and 20th Century Fox. She has been a regular guest speaker at media conferences, including the Newspaper Advertising Bureau, the Out-of-Home Conference and the Daily Variety Ad Club. In 2000, Gruberg became the first studio media head to receive Advertising Age’s Media Maven Award.
