Alan Gregg has been upped to vp, production and distribution, children's television, at Alliance Atlantis Communications to fill the void by Ken Faier’s departure to Nerd Corps Ent. Based in Alliance Atlantis’ head office in Toronto, Gregg is responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategy for the company’s children’s properties, including all aspects of production and distribution.

Gregg was director, production and distribution, children’s television, and has been an integral member of Alliance Atlantis’ children’s programming team since he joined the company in 2000. He has played key roles in the production of a number of children’s series including ACE LIGHTNING — a live action/CGI production for BBC and CBC — HENRY’S WORLD, and, most recently, CGI animated series DRAGON BOOSTER and LUNAR JIM, a new, stop-motion animated preschool series. He will continue to report to Ted Riley, exec managing director, international distribution, who is in Alliance Atlantis’ Dublin office.

“With Alan’s years of experience collaborating with the production community, animation studios and broadcasters – both domestically and internationally – he is a natural fit for this position,” said Riley. “He has a genuine passion for children’s programming and has played a vital role in the development of Alliance Atlantis’ two newest kids’ properties: DRAGON BOOSTER and LUNAR JIM. I look forward to working with him in his new role.”

Gregg was nominated for a Gemini in 2003 as producer of Henry’s World and picked up an Award Of Excellence from the Alliance of Children and Television in the same year. Previously Gregg was a production exec at YTV Canada, Inc., where he worked on a diverse slate of shows, such as BEAST MACHINES, BEASTIES, WORST WITCH, MONA THE VAMPIRE and SUZUKI’S NATURE QUEST.

In 2005, Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. (wsww.allianceatlantis.com) celebrates its 10th anniversary as a leading specialty broadcaster, continuing to offer Canadians recognizable, brands boasting targeted, high-quality programming across 13 specialty channels. The company co-produces and distributes a limited number of television programs in Canada and internationally, including the hit CSI franchise, and holds a 51% limited partnership interest in Motion Picture Distribution LP, Canada's leading motion picture distribution business.
