Alcock To Head FKE Commercial Sales

Mel Alcock has joined Fox Kids Europe (FKE) as exec director of commercial sales to oversee the generation of advertising sales and sponsorship revenue for all Fox Kids channels and online and interactive operations throughout Europe and the Middle East. Alcock will work together with Fox Kids’ local Managing Directors and Sales Directors.

Alcock joins FKE from the interactive software developer, The Digital Interactive Television Group where he was group commercial director. The DITG recently been responsible for interactive applications across a wide range of U.K. broadcasters, including Cartoon Network and Disney. Prior to this, Alcock was at Sky, where he established the business models for the online shopping franchise Sky Buy, the gaming portal SkyGamestar and Sky Mobile.

He will report to Paul Taylor, FKE’s group managing director – channels and evp., who said, “Mel’s appointment is a great coup for FKE, and we are delighted to welcome an executive of his caliber to the company. Mel will play a vital role in enhancing FKE’s commercial revenue generation and co-coordinating all of our sales and online operations.”

“Mel’s extensive experience both at Sky and at agencies such as The Digital Interactive Television Group makes him the ideal candidate for this new role,” said FKE ceo Bruce Steinberg, “and I am confident that with his expertise, we will be able to further strengthen Fox Kids’ position as the leading kids’ channel in a very competitive market place.”

Alcock has also held posts at Flextech, where he was gm of the home shopping channel Screenshop, United Artists and Austin West Media Ltd.
