Press release from The Webby Awards:

New York, NY — The Webby Awards announced that critically-acclaimed stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and voice actor Patton Oswalt will host The 16th Annual Webby Awards.

The Webby Awards also announced that this year's Nominees will be unveiled on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Voting for the Webby People's Voice Awards will start that same day and end on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

The 16th Annual Webby Awards will take place on Monday, May 21, 2012, at The Hammerstein Ballroom. The Awards will take place at a new, earlier time: 5:30 PM EST and will be live streamed on www.webbyawards.com.

"We are really excited for Patton Oswalt to bring his comedic genius to The Webbys," said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. "Patton is the rare comedian who is just as funny online as on a stage. As we push the boundaries of integrating the audience at home with the live show we think Patton is uniquely suited to be this year's Webby host."

A popular fixture on the stand-up comedy circuit, multi-Grammy Award-nominated Patton Oswalt has worked on numerous film and television projects including the recent dark comedy Young Adult, alongside Charlize Theron and the soon-to-be-released film Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, starring Steve Carell and Keira Knightley. He's appeared in co-starring roles on several television series, including a number of Adult Swim shows, King of Queens, United States of Tara, Bored to Death, Caprica, and Reno 911. His voiceover work has been featured in the animated film Ratatouille. Patton's first and only published book Zombie Spaceship Wasteland is a New York Times Best-Seller.

His comedy special Finest Hour, will premiere on Comedy Central on Saturday, April 21, 2012 — the DVD of the special will be released on Tuesday, April 24, 2012.
