New York's Curious Pictures and James Patterson Entertainment (JPE) will co-produce long-form animation based on Patterson's books, graphic novels and original ideas, C21 MEDIA reports. While several of Patterson's books have already been adapted for TV, the new deal will allow him not only to develop new concepts, but also to exploit media other than film and TV and to exercise more control over his creations.
The first project slated for production is the feature-length BEER BELLY & FAT BOY, described as "part BIG LEBOWSKI, part BOURNE IDENTITY, with a dash of 50 FIRST DATES thrown in." The story involves a supposed slacker who is actually a highly skilled assassin controlled by evil corporations.
