Delacave Studio is developing a feature based on the Slavic fairytale BABA YAGA, reports Variety. Dan Creteur will write, direct and design the 3-D film. The Supinfocom grad was an animator on Delacave's first two features CINDERELLA 3D and THE TRUE STORY OF PUSS 'N BOOTS.
Pascal Herold will produce and is in talks to co-produce with Belgian firm Nexus Factory, which co-produced CINDERELLA. Herold is looking for other partners at Cartoon Movie, which starts today. The budget is Euros 9 million ($12.4 million).
Creteur has already penned a novel based on the legend, which follows a 13-year-old prince, who, with the help of a girl who lives in the forest, must save his parents from a children-eating witch.
The crew also includes 3D animation director Fabrice Delapierre (IGOR) and CG supervisor Ali Hamdan (THE LORAX).
